Street Digs – $9000 Winner Take All

April 2nd, 2019

Greetings drag and street racing fans! Welcome to Mexico for a day of big money, small tire street racing with our host, Lumpy. Maximum tire size is 29.5-inch. Racing is single elimination and the buy-in is $300. There are 28 vehicles campaigning. This should be very interesting. It is just a coincidence that this contest takes place around TX2K19. Some of the racers may have taken the action from the strip to the street for this heated competition – but who knows? Let’s get it on! Rules are simple: Don’t jump early. Don’t cross the center-line. Cross the finish line Read More

RUNDRTY – 1000HP TT 1961 Buick Skylark

March 29th, 2019

Make a mental note: This old Buick is not to be trifled with – unless you feel like losing. Sure, you see a big ol’ heavy Buick, with all that paint and chrome, and you think he is too heavy to get out of his own way. I can beat him easy, right? Not so fast! If you plan to make a drag racing campaign with a 1961 Buick Skylark, you have a few choices. All those involve making massive amounts of horsepower; without which you will roll through the trap at the approximate speed at which molasses pours. This Read More

Demonology Dodge vs. DMS Cadillac CTS-V Track Digs

March 13th, 2019

Greetings drag racing fans, to the Texas Motorplex and CTS-V Invitational. Question is: How’d this Mopar get in here? There is no shortage of potent Cadillac sedans, coupes, and even wagons on-hand to try and claim the crown as top Caddy in the Lone Star State. Up until now, they have all been tested and come up short against the Demonology Dodge. All except one. The lone contender is a pearl white CTS-V Coupe, piloted by a little lady (named Beverly) who knows how to throw-down. Today she’ll get her chance to shut Demonology up, once and for all – Read More

8-Second Demon is Pure Carbon Fiber

March 12th, 2019

Gearhead Fabrications and the Speedkore Performance Group collaborated on this beautiful carbon-fiber Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. Under the hood is a custom twin turbo setup with a pair of Precision 7675 turbochargers. A CO2 boost controller and a two-step rev-limiter help to keep all the ponies in the pen. The engine is basically stock (except for the supercharger delete). Fuel is supplied via a Fore Innovations triple pump through ID 1300CC fuel injectors. A Protorque torque converter, DSS (the Driveshaft Shop) carbon-fiber driveshaft, and a rear end brace are the only other modifications. At 1,200hp, this Demon is the most Read More

200 MPH Vengeance Corvette

March 7th, 2019

Fast Chevrolet Corvette coupes and Vengeance Racing (Cumming, Georgia) seem to go together like peanut butter and strawberry preserves. Every time we see these guys, they have a trailer loaded with a half-dozen (or so) of the most capable LS powered sports cars imaginable. Today is special for Ron and the crew from Vengeance. They are all set to surprise friend and long-time customer Chuck beyond his wildest dreams. With about 2-years on his Novi 2200 and 7.0-liter LSX setup, Chuck brought his Corvette in needing a refresh on the engine with some more potent upgrades to follow (when the Read More

1200WHP Ford GT vs 1200WHP Viper – Texas Street Hits

March 1st, 2019

Well, it’s flooding down in Texas – flooding high-end roll racers, that is. Almost time for TX2K19 and it seems that the serious competitors are in town early. The track isn’t available at this hour, but these guys won’t let that stop them. They’re on a mission for street hits so they jump across the southern border into Mexico. Take a gander. In the first flight, the camera car is a 780whp Supra. The first race is between a 900whp ZR1 Corvette and a 1,000whp (black) Supra. Corvette takes the hit and wins it. Next up is a 915whp Corvette Read More

Kansas City is about more than just barbeque. These guys (and gals) are into some serious dig racing on the rural streets. We managed to locate two separate street racing venues (after we got to Mexico) and hook up with some local racers willing to put it all on the line for a cash pot. First up is the Small Tire Cash Days with Mini Big Tire Cash Days to follow. Soak it up. Small Tire Round One and the first race is between a turbocharged big block Chevy powered Fox Body in need of a spring cleaning and a Read More

The Quest for the 8-Second Quarter-Mile – Dodge Demon

February 5th, 2019

Dreamers – you gotta love them. Without dreamers, we would fail to soar to magnificent heights. This is true in the world of drag racing, just as in any other area. Mark Heinnings is one such dreamer in the world of drag racing. Mark dreams of putting his 2018 Dodge Demon into the 8s, without opening up the engine or the supercharger. Let’s see how he’s doing so far. Mark has knocked the socks off the racing world and knocked more than a second off his Demon’s quarter-mile time as estimated when the car was new.
