2016 Dodge Viper ACR – The Fastest Viper Ever

May 8th, 2015

The introduction of the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR (for American Club Racer) brings with it the promise of unrivaled performance. Though not exactly a straight line dragster, the ACR will be a beast on the road course. A six-foot dual element adjustable rear wing, multiple dive planes, a detachable front splitter extension, removable hood louvers, and a rear underbody diffuser provide supreme aerodynamic properties and optimum downforce at the 177 mph top speed. Specially designed Kumho Ecsta V720 tires in massive 295/25R19 (front) and 355/30R19 (rear) and 10-way adjustable Bilstein shocks yield the stickiness in the corners. The familiar 8.4-liter Read More

Dodge Challenger Hellcat vs. Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

April 30th, 2015

This video clip captures the elusive Hellcat taking on a much less powerful opponent in the Corvette Stingray. With 707-horsepower “right out of the box” the Hellcat is about all that one could hope for from a production vehicle. The Stingray is underpowered by SRT8 standards but it offers a greater degree of performance handling, a lower center of gravity, and a lighter gross vehicle weight. Sure enough, the lighter and more nimble Stingray gets the hole shot on the big Hemi powered Dodge and holds its own nearly to the eighth-mile marker. Unfortunately for those of us who are Read More

Hellcat e85 Conversion Increased Horsepower Reduced Emissions

April 22nd, 2015

Everyone knows that the 2015 Dodge Hellcat is built for speed and performance with a factory horsepower rating of 707 (at the crankshaft). What you may not know is this: Serious Horsepower (SHP) out of Houston, Texas, is in the business of making high-performance machines (such as the Hellcat) produce even more horsepower while running on cleaner e85 fuel. In this video, the factory Hellcat posted 672 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque (at the rear wheels) burning 93-octane fuel. After the car was expertly modified by SHP, using HP Tuners 2.25 Software, a Kenne Bell Boost-a-Pump, and upgraded fuel Read More

BMW M5 Vs. Dodge Charger Hellcat

April 17th, 2015

What would happen if a luxury sedan like an E39 (1998-2003) BMW 5-Series went up against the almighty 707-horsepower Dodge Charger Hellcat in a rolling drag race? That depends upon whether or not the BMW is an M-Sport with a lighter turbocharged 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine from a M3 Coupe. I am not sure what kind of tuning was necessary to push the M5 past the Hellcat in terms of performance horsepower output. Whatever modifications have been performed on this opulent European four-door, they prove more than adequate to dispense of this Mopar, in short order. I would like to see this Read More

Outlaw Street Car Reunion 2 Memphis Madness

April 16th, 2015

The Outlaw Street Car Reunion 2 X275 Eliminations from the Memphis International Raceway yielded this awesome clip that includes representatives of virtually every domestic auto manufacturer in head-to-head action. Instead of the Outlaw Street Car Reunion, this looks more like the Mustang Fox Body reunion. There must have been 20-high quality Fox bodies in attendance at this 1/8-mile event. Of course, there are also some fast moving Chevrolets from various eras, as well. There is even a fantastic looking Burnt Orange Mopar in the form of a late model retro-Challenger. It posts a 4.67-second pass at 155.79 mph. Most of Read More

Nissan GT-R Nismo vs Dodge Challenger Hellcat 1/4 Mile Drag Racing

April 10th, 2015

We’ve got some great heads up drag racing at ZMAX Dragway with a 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo running against a Dodge Challenger Hellcat. The Hellcat was running a set of wider drag radial tires while the Nismo GT-R was all stock.   The races were close with each taking wins,  the Nismo GT-R running 11.1 @ 124.8 MPH vs the Hellcat at 11.2 @ 125.3 MPH and the Hellcat at 11.1 @ 124.4 MPH and the Nismo at 11.2 @ 124.3 MPH. The 60′ time at 1.73 for the Nismo GT-R was due to bad track prep and was a bit off from Read More

Wheelstand Wednesday — The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly

April 1st, 2015

Wheelie-bars? We don’t need no stinkin’ wheelie-bars! Check out these Mustangs, Mopars, Malibus, and muscle-bound Camaros (there is even a Luv pickup and a Willis) as they attempt to go airborne. Some get “hooked-up” and lay down a fantastic quarter or eighth-mile pass. Some are literally up and down, from one end of the track to the other, and a few are just epic failures (one car even leaves parts strewn all over the track). Surely these guys have now invested in a good set of wheelie-bars after tearing up their rear-bumpers, roll pans, and other miscellaneous components, by slamming Read More

Dodge Ram Crushes GT-R in 1/4-Mile Pass

March 27th, 2015

You have to see this to believe it! This rusted four-wheel drive 1988 Dodge Ram crushes a modified 2013 Nissan GT-R on the way to posting a 10.993 @ 122 mph. Nobody expected this to happen. The GT-R has bee tuned to 650-horsepower, has numerous aftermarket performance parts installed, and is running premium racing fuel. Nevertheless, this bulky pickup walks away in the quarter-mile. OUCH! The Dodge Ram (nicknamed the Ramaro) is packing a few surprises. The Mopar powertrain is gone and a GM 6.0-liter LS2 V8 with a PT8891 Precision turbocharger, massive intercooler, and 100 shot nitrous have taken Read More

2015 Dodge Viper TA 2.0 vs 2015 Hellcat

March 6th, 2015

Feast your eyes on this video of two premier Dodge performance machines slugging it out in the quarter-mile. Both cars were bone stock and piloted by amateur drivers. As you can see, the Viper (driver) slips third gear but it seems as though the Hellcat already had the contest in the bag by that point. It seems that the Hellcat, affectionately named Fattcat, is developing quite a reputation for spanking high-priced supercars on public highways. So far he has dispatched a highly tuned Nissan GTR, as well as various Corvettes, Camaros, Mustangs, and even a turbocharged Chevy Cobalt. This video, Read More

Corvette Z06 vs Challenger Hellcat Street Race

February 16th, 2015

Dodge’s Challenger Hellcat is at it again taking on a new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 for a few races in this video filmed by BadBowtieProducitons.  Both cars are running 6.2L Supercharged V8 engines with the Z06 producing 650HP and the Hellcat putting out 707HP. While the Z06 has a clear power to weight advantage with 5.4 pounds per HP vs the Hellcat’s 6.2 pounds per HP, the Hellcat is putting that power down through an 8 speed automatic transmission vs the 7 speed manual transmission in the Z06. The result as you can see below is a toss up, which each car Read More
