Carolina Street Rolls

May 15th, 2018

Hello race fans and welcome to one of the friendliest places on earth. I love to visit the beautiful mountains and beaches of the Tar Heel State. This is one of my favorites because the people are so accommodating and the scenery is beyond belief.

Enough if that. Let’s talk street racing on the freeway. That’s when you build a car to accelerate as hard as possible between 40 mph and infinity. After that, you grab your sweetheart and hit the interstate in the wee hours of the morning for some action. Roll racers usually travel in packs with no particular order of race rotation. Just cruise up beside somebody with about the same horsepower as you and give ‘em the look. You know the look. It’s all muscle memory from there (unless you are running the laughing gas). Either way, it’s tons of fun – as long as you win.

The action begins with our camera car, a supercharged Corvette, rolling out against a pretty blue Mazda RX-7 with a built LS1 V8, a 76-millimeter turbocharger, and a Tremec T-56 manual 6-speed transmission. Both cars are claiming 700hp so, this should be a hoot. After multiple hits, this is about as even a roll race as you will ever see. Then they throw a Hayabusa in there and he just walks away into the Carolina night.

Our cameraman switches to a second Corvette. This one is Procharged with a 408 cubic-inch iron block and an LS3 top end. It is also using a methanol injection. Output capacity is estimated at 850hp. He rolls on a Hayabusa and gets flogged before being owned by a Dodge Charger Hellcat (1,000hp) with a wild looking camo wrap.

Lots more great action on this clip. Have a look.
