Carbon Fiber R33 Skyline – Ride Along Street Hits

February 15th, 2019

The JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) R33 Skyline is the black sheep of the Nissan Skyline family. Overweight, oversized, clunky, and under-powered are all adjectives used to describe this often-maligned sports coupe.

So, what’s a guy (or gal) to do? Knuckle-under and succumb to the pressure? Buy a more desirable R32 or R34 Skyline, instead? Negative! The R33 owner in this video chose to go with the most unpredictable of options. He has dumped a load of cash into changing every single body panel (and the wheels) into lightweight carbon fiber. This not only netted a significant reduction in the overall weight (approximately 1,000-pounds) of the car; it also looks great.

The cameraman is a huge fan of the “underdog” R33. He is beyond thrilled when told that he will get a chance to ride along as Jason (car owner) takes the wheel for some street hits (down Mexico way). Don’t forget to buckle-up Jason; this is going to be quite a ride.

This unique left-hand drive beauty is equipped with a built 2.6-liter engine and a Precision 6266 turbocharger. When asked about the obviously abundant level of horsepower, Jason simply answers, “A lot – it’s a lot.” Enough said.
