Props to Shawn from AutotopiaLA for sniffing out this incredible Volvo street sleeper. Owned and perfected by retired professional race car driver Eric Curran (West Coast Exotic Cars), this rare Bertone Volvo is equipped to handle almost anything on the street. Let’s get a closer look at this project that is a hand-me-down labor of love for Eric.

Of course, we begin under the hood where we discover a stunning supercharged (dry sump) 6.2-liter LT4 V8 engine from a C6 Corvette Z06. Rated at 650hp and 650 lb.-ft. of torque, the LT4 is among the most powerful engines ever used in a Chevrolet production vehicle. The engine remains basically stock with the exception of some mild tuning and exhaust tweaks. Great choice for a street sleeper. The supercharged engine fits underneath the stock hood because of the dry sump lubrication system.

The transmission is a Tremec T-56 6-speed manual, and the rear end is an 8.8-inch Ford.

There are adjustable coilover shocks on all four corners. Control arms are custom “boxed” for strength and stability. Sophisticated Hind joints are used in place of ball joints or tie rod ends. The brakes are from a later model Volvo Type R which utilized a factory Brembo setup.

Interior and exterior modifications are subtle, but Eric has big dreams.
