Airstrip Attack Kansas – 200 MPH Porsche Pandemonium

September 1st, 2020

This video production takes us out to the airstrip in Kansas for some ½-mile racing. Featured are a group of four modified Porsche sports cars that can produce approximately 5,000hp between them. Known for their road racing prowess, these competitors are looking to prove that they are as good in a straight line as they are at cutting the corners. Let’s have a look.

All these German masterpieces are built by Evospec Performance in Arizona and maintained by DRIVERSOURCE in Houston, Texas. Most of these Porsche models are equipped with either a 3.6-liter, 3.8-liter or 4.0-liter V6 engine. Engines are built to withstand high RPM levels as well as the stress associated with enhanced forced air induction systems. Most are turbocharged and radically modified for performance. Average maximum output for these tame looking beauties is 1,400hp. Every one of the cars featured are manually shifted and all of them are capable of achieving 200 mph (in the ½-mile) on any given day. Todd, in the red Porsche GT3, currently holds the top speed record of 206 mph for a stick shift Porsche.

After posting consecutive passes of 196 and 195 mph, Todd takes a break and lets somebody else get to work.

Next up, the black Porsche takes off like a rocket ship and drops a top speed of 204 mph to claim the fastest run of the day (so far).

Finally, the red car and the black car line up and take to the ½-mile. In a close contest, the black car posts a top speed of 204 mph while the red car dumps an impressive 201 mph.

There’s plenty more ½-mile action on this clip.
