8-Second Volvo Wagon – Mega Sleeper

November 21st, 2018

So, what else would you expect from a battle tested bunch of Norsemen? Scared of Hot Rod Drag Week? Oh, no! Build a car in a week and bring it to Atlanta; where you will begin the most grueling week in racing? No problem for Vikings, right? Hamstrung with a Volvo Station Wagon? Now, that’s going too far! Even legendary warrior Eric Bloodaxe needed an aerodynamic vessel beneath him. After all, this Volvo is shaped like a cinder block.

Do not worry and do not fret; this tenacious team is geared towards building a street sleeper perfectly suited for success at Drag Week. To get the boxy Swedish wagon moving, a 6.0-liter Chevy LS engine was implanted. The bottom remains stock while the cylinder heads have undergone some degree of enhancement. Forced air induction is accomplished with a single turbocharger kit. The Swedes are running a TH400 automatic transmission and a Ford 9-inch rear end. Simple, salt of the earth type stuff.

The car begins the event running in the 10s, and ends-up posting an 8-second pass before the final day of racing is finished in the A-T-L. Check this one out if you love street sleepers.
