8-Second Quarter-Mile Chevy Silverado

January 4th, 2018

This video features a vehicle that combines two of my favorite things – a jaw-dropping quarter-mile monster and a pickup truck.

Climb into the passenger seat of the Heavy Chevy and enjoy some terrific street hits as the owner/operator explains how he has built one of the baddest pickups ever. With its long wheel base and extended cab configuration, this beast is primed to tame street or strip.

The 2001 Chevrolet Silverado has been outfitted with an NPR 430 cubic-inch LSx engine. A Holley Dominator EFI system controls fuel delivery and a massive Garrett 98-millimeter GTX 5533R turbocharger is responsible for cramming copious amounts of air into the snout. Horsepower is estimated at 1,400 on the crankshaft and 1,200whp, A Turbo 400 automatic transmission and a 9-inch rear differential helped this Cowboy Cadillac to post a personal best 8.632-second pass (quarter-mile) @ 159.78 mph (on 25 psi of boost).

This truck is an absolute menace (to the competition) at the drag strip but it is a perfect gentleman as a daily driver. Check it out.
