8-Second 1/4-Mile by an 18-Year Old Girl

July 29th, 2015

Alex TaylorIn my gym there is a small sign that reads, “Remember that somewhere in China a school girl just did multiple sets of 15 – with your max.” That reminds me of Alex Taylor. As the youngest competitor at Rocky Mountain Race Week, this 18-year old is competing on a level that is much more advanced than her years. In one clip she responds to a question regarding the effects of the Colorado elevation level with, “Ooooh, el-e-vation” and in another she is spewing analytical tuner data like an experienced crew chief. This racer is already good, but one day she will undoubtedly be one of the best (of any gender). If I had a daughter (I do have a great daughter-in-law) I’d want her to be just like Alex.

This year Alex has made some upgrades to her 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, they include a stock block 6.0-liter LS1 Chevy truck motor (Crower valve-train) outfitted with a pair of Borg Warner 66-millimeter turbochargers along with Tial blow-off valves and wastegates. Watch this enthusiastic young lady as she tenaciously pursues her 8-second pass.
