The world record for top speed in the standing half-mile has fallen. The driver who shattered the 238.6 mph mark (set last year by K.C. Howeth in Texas) Saturday is no rookie. Gidi Chamdi is the man-of-the-hour. He once held the record at 234 mph and I’ll give you odds that he won’t let his new “high-water” mark stand very long.
Gidi’s car is a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera. It has a built 5.2-liter V10 engine and an Underground Racing X twin turbo package. The setup is good for more than 2,300hp. Despite the massive power, this Lambo remains very streetable with factory climate control, a full accruement of seating, and a navigation system.
