2018 Dodge Demon – Track Testing

September 30th, 2017

Just when you thought it was safe to go back on the streets – the SRT division of Dodge rolls out the Challenger SRT Demon. It makes the Hellcat seem like a pussy cat by bringing production car performance into a whole new realm. This video documents real world track testing of this incredible beast.

It is almost unbelievable that a production car has the capacity to produce 840hp (808hp on pump gas) and 770 lb.-ft. of torque; much less accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.3-seconds (and that’s not to mention a quarter-mile elapsed time of less than 10-seconds).

The Demon builds on the platform of the Challenger Hellcat with a slightly smaller engine (6.2-liter HEMI) but a larger supercharger (14.5 psi boost). A specially designed SRT Power Chiller employs the air conditioning system to cool intake air and make it denser.

In addition to being the most powerful American production automobile, the Demon boasts several other firsts among mass produced vehicles:

  • It is the first to come from the factory with drag radials
  • It is the first domestic production vehicle to feature a transmission brake and line-lock
  • It is the first mass produced vehicle that can pull the front wheels off the ground under acceleration

Despite being a heavy car, this is one Mopar that can really fly – right out of the box. Check it out!
