We recently got this submission of a brand new Mclaren MP4-12C running heads up vs a Ferrari 458 Sacramento Raceway Park.  The McLaren beat the Ferrari pretty badly running an 11.7 @ 130.4 MPH vs the Ferrari 458 running 12.3 @ 121 MPH.   This is the first real world run we’ve seen of the new McLaren at the drag strip and while the 130 MPH+ trap speeds are impressive, the off the line performance seems to be lacking with it’s 3.8L V8 Twin Turbo putting down 600+ horsepower to only the rear wheels.  Update: Comments coming in advise us this was a husband and wife racing each other.

With a 5.8L Supercharged V8 pumping out 662 horsepower via only two wheels and a manual transmission, the 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 can be quite a handful to get off the line with a good launch. Here is a video demonstration of the launch control feature which allows the driver to select the appropriate launch RPM between 2,500 and 5,200 RPMs. After the launch RPM is selected the driver puts the car in 1st gear, keeps the clutch pedal in and floors the gas pedal. After the RPMs reach the selected amount the clutch is quickly released and the GT500′s electronics do the rest of the work attempting to modulate the power to keep wheel spin to a minimum.

Underground Racing has released a video showing the acceleration of the first Lamborghini Aventador Twin Turbo.  With a fully built motor and twin turbochargers added this Aventador is pushing upwards of 1,200 horsepower.  Reported acceleration times are at 0-60 MPH in 2.2 seconds, but we’ve yet to see any real world VBOX or drag strip results.  Keep checking back as we’ll post them up as soon as they come in.  For now enjoy the sound and sights of this one of a kind super exotic.
