We took our new 2013 Nissan GT-R that we tested a month ago back to Palm Beach International Raceway for some more testing. With better weather and some more miles on the car we were able to consistently run well into the 10’s with Nissan’s latest and greatest. The quickest run of the night was a 10.87 @ 125.26 MPH with 0-60 MPH coming up in just 2.7 seconds and a 60-130 MPH time of 8.89 seconds (VBOX). Peak G forces on the launch were 1.3 G’s. The little extra power and torque of the 2013 Nissan GT-R along Read More
The mod wars are on for the new 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 with Redline Motorsports running a 10.3 @ 134 MPH with some minor modifications. Since the motor in the ZL1 has been out in the CTS-V for a while, most of the parts were ready to go. This Camaro ZL1 has basic bolt-ons including headers, tune, cold air intake, camshaft as well as upper and lower pulleys to increase the boost from the stock blower. The car pulled an impressive 1.54 60′ time with an upgraded torque converter and Mickey Thompson Drag Radials. Take a look at the Read More
Lingenfelter took delivery of two brand new Chevrolet Camaro ZL1s and put them on a Mustang Dyno for some baseline power numbers before they start developing upgrades for them. The new Camaro ZL1 put down 511 horsepower and 405 ft-lbs of torque at the rear wheels. A 15% driveline loss puts the new ZL1 at just over 600 horsepower. The ZL1 is powered by a supercharged V8 that is rated at 580 horsepower from Chevrolet. While these are pretty decent numbers on the dyno, the performance so far at the track has been hugely disappointing, with the ZL1’s running in the Read More
We had some time with a brand new 2012 BMW 328i Luxury Line powered by an all new 2.0L Inline 4 TwinPower Turbo engine producing 240 horsepower and 255 ft-lbs of torque through an 8 speed automatic transmission. We ran some straight line acceleration tests using a Racelogic Performancebox and recorded some pretty impressive numbers from BMW’s entry level 3 series. We had the car in sport mode with the traction control systems off and used a slight power brake to around 2,000 RPM. The car had a slight amount of wheel spin as shown in the Read More
Here is a crazy video of a Camaro with some kind of nitrous leak that results in a huge explosion while the driver is still in the car. Looks like nobody was hurt, but it could have been much worse.
Dodge’s new brand, SRT unveiled the 2013 SRT Viper at the New York Auto Show powered by an 8.4L V10 motor with 640 horsepower and 600 ft-lbs of torque. Take a look at a video of the new Viper below:
Edmunds Inside Line put a McLaren MP4-12C on the Dyno to see how much power the super car is really making. The McLaren was a bit troublesome to dyno at the beginning due to the electronic limiters on the car not liking how the rear wheels were spinning with the fronts stationary, but eventually they were able put the power down. The McLaren’s 3.8L V8 Twin Turbo put down 512 horsepower and 415 ft-lbs of torque at the rear wheels through it’s double clutch transmission. Using a 15% driveline loss that puts the car at around 604 horsepower which is a Read More
