Nissan held a European Press Event to debut the 2013 GT-R this past weekend. Details from the event are coming in and while it might not be 100% official the following changes were noted:

• Power increase up from 530HP to ~570HP
• Visually remains the same with no additional color options
• Suspension and Transmission logic have been tweaked
• Under body has been changed to improve aero and cooling
• Co2 emissions have once again been lowered
• Official Ring Time Attack attempt is expected mid October

Premium Black Edition, Egois and a Track Edition will be also be available. With the additional power we expect a mid-high 10 second car at close to 130 MPH, watch out 911 Turbo S, the GT-R is upping the ante again.

Here is some video of the first Lamborghini Aventador LP700 we’ve seen at the drag strip. The brand new Aventador is powered by a 690 horsepower V12 through a very quick shifting ISR single clutch automated transmission. While this run was only at an 1/8 mile track, the results are very promising with the Aventador running a 7.1 @ 106 MPH without even launching the car and a passenger in the car. This 1/8 mile time roughly translates to mid to high 10′s at 134+ MPH. In the video the Aventador is up against a 1000HP Nissan GT-R, not quite a fair matchup but fun to watch.

2011 Lamborghini Aventador Drag Racing

Road & Track did a heads up all out drag racing comparison of 3 cars in the 2 second club; cars that go from 0-60 MPH in under 3 seconds. The contenders include the 1200HP Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, 530HP Nissan GT-R and the 530HP 2011  Porsche 911 Turbo S.

• 1/4 mile: 11.2 @ 123.4 MPH

2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S ($170k)

2011 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport ($2.8M)

• 0-60 MPH: 2.52

• 1/4 mile: 9.9 @ 145.8 MPH
• 0-160 MPH: 12.2

Below is the video, while the cars they are testing are incredible, the Road & Track narration is so dull and boring, the guy sounds like he just woke up, too bad Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear didn’t get hold of these cars for the testing.

This video shows a brand new Lamborghini Aventador LP700 racing against a Gallardo LP560 Twin Turbo running at 9psi. The LP560TT at 9psi should be making around 940 horsepower and as the video shows it has a hard time passing the LP700 which is rated at 700HP. Towards the end of the video you can see some nice flames from the Aventador as it lets off the gas.

Take a look at this hacked up Lamborghini Countach setup as full out drag car that has reportedly run in the 6′s when now bouncing off the walls. Doesn’t look like too much damage was done, we’re on the hunt to find a video of it making a pull pass.

Motor Trend setup an amazing line up of cars for an all out king of the 1/4 mile drag race at an airstrip. The Nissan GT-R with it’s 530HP V6 Twin Turbo and superb all wheel drive launch control beat them all to the finish.

No race is perfect, but we would have liked to have seen Porsche represented by the 911 Turbo S and Chevrolet with the ZR1. While the Nissan GT-R did win, it’s lucky the race didn’t go any further as it would have been passed on by some of the lighter and more powerful cars.

Take a look at this 3/4 custom built Supra chassis car with over 2000 HP running at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta, GA. This Supra comes off the line hard with a 1.05 60′ time and finishes up the 1/4 mile at 7.03 @ 186.7 MPH. The notes in the video state that they let off at the 1000′ mark, so look for this Supra to dip into the 6′s really soon.
