One of Underground Racing’s Twin Turbo Lamborghini Gallardo’s producing 1,500 – 1,900 horsepower went off the runway at over 200MPH shortly after it’s chute opened while attempting a new world record standing 1 mile pass. The following footage is the first we’ve seen that actually shows the entire run and crash. Amazingly, the driver Richard Holt, actually walked away from this disastrous accident.

Here are a few videos of a new Ferrari 458 drag racing against a Lamborghini LP560-4 on a runway during a Bullfest event.  The races are closer that we thought they might be with the edge going to whichever car got the jump from the start.  The Ferrari 458 was pulling on the LP560 although the runway wasn’t quite long enough for that to really show.

The slightly revised 2012 Nissan GT-R specifications were found and while they’re in Japanese, the numbers are there, showing a nice 45HP power increase to 530HP and 450 ft-lbs of torque.  Some other changes include slightly large brakes, lighter wheels, along with a host of suspension enhancements.   The really big news is that this latest GT-R lapped the Nurburgring in just 7:20 with is a new production car record, beating the Dodge Viper ACR by 2 seconds.

Nissan’s bump to 530HP looks like it’s chasing after the latest Porsche 911 Turbo S that just started hitting the magazines with some very impressive performance stats with 0-60 MPH coming in at under 3 seconds and the 1/4 mile in the high 10′s.   Should be interesting to see if the updated Nissan GT-R can match or beat it.

A few privileged Viper Club of America members were able to catch a glimpse of what the upcoming Generation V Viper might look like at the 11th Annual Viper Club of America’s Owners Invitational. Security was super tight and all cameras and cell phones were checked in at the door. All we have so far is a sillouette of the new Viper under a car cover along with the new Viper Logo. Check back soon for more pictures….

UPDATE: Turns out that the car under the cover was a hoax, it was a Ferrari…

Remarks from Ivan Ho, President of the Viper Club of America’s South Florida Chapter who did see the new Viper up close:

As we would soon find out, under that cover was no Gen 5 Viper; it was a Ferrari 599. The new Viper was across the street in the sister hotel. They broke down the group in 4 groups; no camera or phones allowed inside the display. You had to check in your camera and phone and then get swept by the police with an electronic wand. Yes they were serious. Ok, so here’s my opinion on the Gen 5 Viper. As I looked at it slowly turning on the turntable, you could see from the front end that it was much more sophisticated then before. Brake ducts were apparent in the front grill. Use of LEDs for lights PLUS the round fog lamp that we have been accustomed to seeing, was changed to all LEDs because of Sergio wanting an updated look. The hood swept down deeper like the Shelby Series 1, but towards the front, there was an aggressive hood scoop. Moving towards the back, there were 2 vents, one on each side that was located right behind the door. The rear of this car was all GTS, with use of rear valance, plus use of LEDs as well for the rear lights. The rear panel looked almost like an Astin Martin too, combined with a similar shape of the Maserati Gran Turismo. Why has Dodge kept this car from the public? My feeling is that they may wish to tweak it a little more or they may want to release it during the Detroit Auto Show. There was a focus group the next day to address our opinion so I’m positive that many people did attend. This car is definitely beautiful, but maybe a little too kind. Looking at the new Gen 5 logo, it doesn’t match the look yet. I know some of us wanted a meaner more aggressive look, and I think they are close.
