1967 Ford Fairlane – 9-Second Street Sleeper

July 20th, 2022

Allow me to introduce Michael Tagg and his beast of a 1967 Ford Fairlane. Sometimes you see a pretty car and say, “Yeah, but how fast is it?” You might even assume that, because it looks nice, it’s a trailer queen or all show and no go. It would be a mistake to think such things about this all-motor Ford Fairlane. It is both pretty and fast.

You can tell by the scoop that great things lie beneath. Sure enough, we find the coveted Shelby aluminum 427 cubic-inch engine (stroked out to 482 cubes). This one is topped with a set of Edelbrock aluminum cylinder heads and an Edelbrock Victor intake manifold. The giant carburetor is a Holley 1100 Dominator dual line, double pumper. The transmission is a Jerico 4-speed manual with Advanced clutches. The rear end is a Ford 9-inch with 4.56:1 final drive gears. This beast of a street sleeper is purpose built to drag race.

Michael has owned the car since 2011 after he found it in a body shop. Originally built for the street, Michael now campaigns the fast Ford in the NMCA (National Muscle Car Association).

This pavement pounding naturally aspirated muscle car has posted a best quarter-mile of 9.98-seconds.
