1500HP Mustang Cobra – Half-Mile

January 8th, 2018

This video delivers a very interesting Ford Mustang (or conglomeration of Mustangs) that rolled onto the airstrip for WannaGoFast with very little fanfare. After blasting through the half-mile (with the roar of a jet plane), and posting a 188 mph top speed, all eyes seemed to be on this cobbled-up pony car. Let’s have a look.

At first glance, this slick ‘Stang does not have the appearance of a 1,500hp monster. It looks stock and is well behaved in traffic. However, if you look a bit closer, you will find that this car is far from ordinary. It began as a stock 2006 Ford Mustang GT. The engine was swapped for a built (bored over stock with Oliver connecting rods) 2003 Terminator Cobra engine and fitted with a twin (67-millimeter) turbocharger setup. A MoTec controller (tuned by T1 Racing Development) keeps things in order and an M&W ignition system provides the spark. A three-inch exhaust system removes spent  gases and a nine-inch Moser rear differential (3.70:1 gear ratio) helps put all those ponies to the pavement.

This car has been equipped with a 2014 GT500 dash and wiring harness and  it has been assembled beautifully. This car looked great, ran smoothly, and posted a top speed of over 191 mph. Not too shabby.
