1300HP ETS EVO – First 7-Second Quarter Mile

March 19th, 2020

English Racing and Extreme Turbo Systems (ETS) have done it again! They have gone and created another monster of an import. This time it is in the form of an all-wheel drive Mitsubishi EVO. This car strikes fear into the hearts of competitors everywhere it shows up, and for good reason. Let’s have a look under the hood.

The engine is an English Racing drag motor (Golden Eagle block) with GSC Power Division camshafts and valvetrain. The turbocharger is a Precision 7685 and the turbo kit is by ETS. At optimum output, the car makes around 70 psi of boost. The transmission is a draft design with an Exedy carbon triple disc clutch. The car is owned by ETS and prepared by the dedicated English Racing crew.

An interesting story about the car took place near the end of last season. The cylinder head was cracked, and all the coolant leaked out, so the crew decided to make a pass without coolant. After pushing the car to the line and making a quick pass, the crew was rewarded with a personal best of 8.01-seconds at 183 mph. Respectable pass but it ain’t the 7-second pass they have been seeking.

During qualifying, Myles runs an 8-second flat at 180 mph. So close!

After that, the transfer case breaks during a test pass. Three-hours later, the English Racing crew has the car back on the line and ready to go.

In the first round of the Stick Shift Class, the Grannas Racing Supra jumps out ahead of the EVO before getting squirrely. The EVO drives around him and posts an 8.09-second pass @ 183.6. Next round, Myles gets the red light and loses to the Grub Worm Camaro (owner of numerous world records of his own).

Next is an exhibition pass in quest of a seven. Effort finally pays off as the ETS EVO runs a 7.93 @ 185 mph. Congratulations guys!
