Driver is Alex Gassman in his first ever car raceday. Out of a grid of 22 cars he qualified 5th, which is where he finished in race 1. This is the second race where he again started 5th. In the first race of the day, Alex started 5th and had a good tussel with a few other cars, finishing third. This is a video of the second race where this time he started 6th. Whilst waiting on the grid for the lights to go out, instead of putting it in 1st gear he put it in 3rd by accident, the result of which you can see in the video. However, he didn't give up and fought his way back up towards the front of the grid. At 5:25 in the video, there was a little bit of contact between Alex and #78 as a result of Alex being squeezed out and having no-where to go. 26.05.08 Add &fmt=18 to the end of the video URL and hit enter for a slightly higher resolution version.

http://www.alexgassman.com/ Test day at Rockingham short circuit in the MR2 I am racing in the MR2Racing series this year. As it was a test day it meant that there were a number of other race cars there, including Ginettas and Clio Cup cars, but also Mike Jordan was there in his BTCC Integra, along with his son Andrew Jordan in an identical car. There's a short clip of this at the start. Good bits at 0:25 and 4:10. At 25 sec, I went round the Clio on the grass as I had a Seat overtaking me at the same time so couldn't avoid him on the track or I would have probably ended up hitting the Seat. At 4:10, I took the escape road as when I shifted down I missed the gear and went up to 5th, and it also felt like something broke. Without the engine braking it would have been harder to take the turn. I didn't expect to see a Ginetta coming towards me the other way up the escape road, and I'm sure he was slightly surprised to see me too. It was a very near miss. Driver is Alex Gassman
