GMC Syclone at Road America 2004 (chase cam)
One and a half laps. I had a blast! This was my first time on a road course. I detuned the truck to about a "high 12 second" performance level because I was running stock brakes (which I severely melted and have since upgraded). The driving here isn't my best because I usually take it easy to warm up for the first half lap, but I only had one opportunity to get a sweet chase-cam like this! The stock 700-R4 transmission and air to water intercooler did a great job, despite running a total of 200 miles of racing over the weekend! It runs rich (smoke on straights) because I ran a homemade Xylene mix for high octane that day. Stock motor GMC Syclone runs 11.79 @ 114 MPH
This was my fastest pass on the stock motor/trans/converter, with major mods of PT51 turbo, Ultimate chip, and SMC alcohol injection (with 93 octane fuel). It was a real trick to get that stock converter to spool up hard on the line! But just listen to those tires light up :-) Boost pressure: ~23 PSI. I detuned the truck to about a 12.50 (1/4mi) level and upgraded to 12" LS1 front brakes with Carbotech XP10 race pads and the brakes were fantastic!
