Which car is faster? Which Car is Faster?

(bull crap)
88.68 MPH trap in the 1/8 in a very mild bolt-on GT. Please!! Do you think people on this site are stupid!! Ive only seen supercharged and spray GT's post those trap #'s. The only way you could have made made that trap speed is if you have some secret power adder you forgot to mention. Otherwise Im raising the bull crap flag.

(lsc240horse)
I thought mustangs had 5.0's. This guy says 4.6, I'm raising the bull crap flag.

(c nile)
These times don't work, and how does your car put 275hp to the wheels stock except for exhaust?I must raise the B/S FLAG.

(Johnny Unitas)
I see your point about your DOCH. Maybe I can't read, but at least I could pull a sub 1.8 60ft with ET street radials. You cant pull a 2.0. Also 275 hp at the rear tires still doesn't equal that trap speed in the 1/8th you say you ran. Look at some of the comparable 1/8 times with cars with similar horsepower, and Ill bet youll see trap speeds at least 4 to 5 mph slower. Now explain that rocket scientist.

(lsc240horse)
Let me ask this, do you do any actual racing or just bench race everything? Numbers never add up, if it was as easy as weight and horsepower to figure speeds why would people be changing gears, stall convertors, sticky tires. It's all about the combination. I'm not the owner of this car, but I was there, it ran exactly what is listed. Quit whining, if the fact that a basically stock Mustang is doing 108 in the 1/4, go buy one, do the mods listed on this page and have fun. You keep bench racing, we'll be out tearing up the pavement.

(johnny U)
Hey Woman, don't get your little panties in a bunch. Go to the track list and look up Lancaster Race Park in New York. Youll find a 97 Cobra that runs very well Thank you. Before you start telling people to go buy a mustang maybe find out if they own one first. I know you own a slow as LSC that can't get out of the 14's. How bout you go buy a Mustang, then will talk BITCH!!

(lsc240horse)
Thanks for posting that. Now I see why you're upset. All that work, taking out your backseat, lightening it up, gears, and all you can get is 106 mph. You like that LSC eh? It's easier to accept that your car is slow when you only paid $100 for it! I could care less what that thing runs, it's got nothing to prove, it's a frickin Lincoln. Not like it has to live up to a "Cobra" name.

(Johnny U)
Why would I be mad, I run faster times. "All that work?" If thats considered alot of work to you, I would probally change hobbies. Taking out the back seat took me 20 minutes. If thats complicated to you, I feel bad. You must not know how to work on cars. That $100 Lincoln probally cost you a lot more by now, considering you think taking a back seat out is alot of work. Based on that comment you probally pay to have your oil changed. I could give two ** on my 1/4 MPH. If you really raced you would understand people race for ET's not MPH. Thats why it called DRAG TIMES, get it. Not DRAG MPH. Besides the beef I had was with your boyfriends 1/8 MPH, not 1/4MPH. Besides a car running 88 or 89 in the 1/8 would be a 110 to 112 car in the 1/4 if not more. Hate to say it but your friend cant drive either. Tell your boy friend to learn to 60ft better and shift better and maybe, just maybe he would be as fast as me. Oh wait, probally not.

(c nile)
Gentlemen, I guess we have got ourselves an argument going. To me the only real problem is that people put BS on this site that insults some of that spend alot of money and time to acctually go to a drag sstrip and compete. There are many many cars faster than my little 04 GT. It does actually run 11:50's in the 1/4 and 7.45's in the 1/8. I know it tok a good bit of money to take it to that point, and that many of you can blow my doors off. However I can say that it does get old to read crap that does not make sense on here. So lets just keep it honest. You only make yourself look dumb to anyone that knows cars. I am no mechanic wish I was, but I do understand what I have had to pay for to make my little GT run with some of you, so I understand Johnny U, speaking up.

(Johnny u)
Well said C nile. Lets keep it honest and leave the bench racing to those who want too!

(Look, Read, Simple)
I find it very interesting to read all these comments and am amazed at the clear lack of thought displayed by some of these opinionates. They obviously wrote without LOOKING and READING on what they were writing about. The Mustang that was tested was a MACH 1, not a GT. First-LOOK at the picture of the car, obviously its a MACH 1. Second-READ the stats. The car is a DOHC. This car is obviously a MACH 1. With the stats that were reported, they are very close to those MotorTrend magazine found when they tested the MACH 1. For those that wrote the negative comments it is obvious they are too lazy to think or read for themselves, which is all to common in this society today.

(Johnny Unitas)
Read? Can you read? The title says 2003 FORD MUSTANG GT 4.6L. Am I wrong? Why title it that, if it is indeed a Mach 1. Im not arguing the fact that the car in the pic is not a Mach, Im just confused to why the title says what it says. Are you the owner of the car? If so, you never mentioned the fact the car was a mach 1 earlier in this little "debate" which I find odd. I would have said that right away, as I think most people would. With that title I thought it was a DOHC swap. Im quite familiar with mach 1's and know what they can do when modded and driven to potential and bone stock. I Still have a problem with the 88.68 MPH in the 1/8. The 1/4 numbers match well with Motor Trend article with out a doubt. But like I said before, that 1/8 MPH would mean 110-112 or more in the 1/4. Im sure there were no 1/8 mile MPH numbers in the Motor Trend arcticle, so that can be tossed out the window. Some thing is definetly up with this "issue" and I would just want the owner to explain the deal, i.e. Mach, no Mach? Why the high 1/8 mile MPH and normal 1/4 mile MPH. Why not mentioning the Mach point earlier. Im not trying to be a ****, im just very intrested in the truth to this.

(Chris)
A stock mustang GT will run 13.8 in the quarter with stickys. But it looks like to me that you have a Mach 1 not a GT. I would believe it if you had a Mack 1, but a gt...i don't know. I have a GT and with the wind at your back at 30 mph and temp 60 degrees with no humidity you couldn't get a stock mustang gt to go 13 flat.

(Justin)
I have cams and full bolt ons and I ran a 8.40 spinning at 85 mph

(EliGT)
Guys, he's got a MACH 1! Look at the shaker, spoiler chin, rims and the fender emblem. It's possible.

(Max)
Hey I hit an 8.98 in the 1/8 with a SOHC, M/T streets an after market pipe and a clod air kit 75 mm TB and a C & L Upper intake.

(Michael)
...There is a simple way to solve it... Just show the Timeslip.. Copy it and post it. I have a 4.6. The GT is a 4.6 Cobra is 5.0... Know your mustangs before you bitch.

(cnile)
Wow!!I love all this neat informatyion. I never knew that an 03 Cobra was a 5.0. Stupid me thought they were also a 4.6 I guess I need to know my Mustangs better don't I Michael. Cnile

(Phil Rizuto)
You are retarded Michael. Why do you even try to post on here? Im not even going to correct you, because it will make me sound stupid.

(Max)
Try this link out guys! Some of use will learn a few thigs. I know I did LOL http://www.mustangforums.com/timeline/2003-ford-mustang/

(STANGER00)
LITTLE BOY....FIRST OFF I HAVE A 2000 FORD MUSTANG WITH 3.73 REAREND ZOOM CLUTCH UNDERDRIVE PULLEYS COLD AIR INTAKE AND TRICK FLOW UPPER INTAKE MANNIFOLD, AND I USE 26X8.5X15 MICKEY THOMPSON ET DRAGS AND I AM ONLY PULLING AN 13.69@103MPH IN THE QUARTER MILE....IN THE 1/8MILE I AM 8.52@82 MPH. YOU ARE SO FULL OF SHIT THAT YOU NEED THE FUCKIN COAST GUARD TO PULL YOU OUT OF THIS ONE..WHY DONT YOU GO BACK TO YOUR GROCERY BAGGING JOB WHERE YOU DRIVE A 1990 P.O.S!

(Chris)
He is a bull****ter...thats no mach 1 or any special mustang...a mstock mustang will only run in the 14s in street tires but slicks at best will run a 13.81@101mph at best ..i know because i have a project pony i just bought and ran it..

(Chris)

(stanger00)
to correct a few people on here...thats no mach 1..some mustangs have the fake hood scoop..i have one and it looks like a mach 1 but the scoop is on-functional scoop..second ford stop using the 5.0L in the mustangs in 1996..1995 the cobra and the gt was a 5.0L..96 and up the cobra was a dohc 4 valve motor and the gt was a lil 4.6l sohc motor...

(gtboy)
maybe im dumb since i own both a 2002 gt and a 2003 mach 1 but... the badging on the fenders would say GT if it was either a GT or BULLITT or a MACH 1.. and a Cobra snake if it was a COBRA.. so what are the chances this is just a V6 made to look all big and bad?

(davidsgt)
All of you people are stupid!!! Yall should get off this site if yall don't even know when the 4.6 mod motors were put in to stangs ........

(MattyGT)
But you people must realize the DOHC put out more power than a SOHC, but it all depends on how the engine is timed and how everything is setup, and what the track temps, air pressure, humidity, and all that nonsense because if the air is right youll gain more HP, i know, ive raced under these conditions, but i dont see why it couldn't run that on the 1/4 mile, sounds fine, ive seen 5.7L's run 11's, not to sure on the 1/8th mile thought, cause i have a couple of mates that whent to a 1/4 mile track with an Alterd 460ci V8 and ran a 6, so thet 1/8 does sounds exadurated..

(chris)
yeah 4.6 modular engines were put into almost every ford that was v8, and the 98+ 4.6ls did put out a little less than 250 stock, with a few addons would make 275... 5.0s were gone in '92 i believ

(nick 04 gt)
ok let me clear something up for yall.. the 5.0 was history after 1995. in 1996 came this none PI 4.6 making 215 hp. at the crank. by 98 it made 225. then in 1999 they put power improved heads and a better flowing intake. which resulted in 260 hp at the fly wheel. the in 2005 they put on three valve heads so know the 4.6 sohc makes 300 hp. As far as 1/8 mile times go i ran a trap speed of 79mph on street tires leaveing the line pretty darn softly as not to spin then i gave her H@#$.. All cobras from 96 on are dohc 4.6's.

(brett 01 cobra)
95 was the las year for 5.0 96 the 4.6 was introdused it came out with a stock 220 horse power that was not rwhp in 99 the horse power was upped to 260 not rwhp the earlier cobras and mach1 had 305 hp not rwhp that was 96 to99 2001 the cobra was uped to 320 hp with 275 rwhp the mach 1 stayed the same till 2003 in 2003 the cobra upped to 390 hp the mach1 360 and in 2005 the gt to 300 this is not rwhp less he did a hot pass and had secret mods its virtualy impossible with the gt

(roy)
IN that pic, is a MACH 1. hense the running pony badges, mach 1 grille delete, chin spolier SHAKER(not fake scoop) hood, and mach 1 RIMS. so all u idiots that think they know mustangs need to check thereselves.

(Joe)
On the left side of the mach 1 picture it states the car is a 4.6 GT...that is why everyone is talking bad and calling BS. If this is truely a DOHC mach 1 than those times are nothing to brag about. The ET that you have of a 13.0 is quite normal for that kind of stang. I had 313 rwhp and 330 rwtq on my ex 03 mach 1. It went 11.93 @ 114 mph N/A on the stock uncracked block with bolt ons, full exhaust, full suspension, and slicks. Its not how much power you put down, its how good of an et you can get with what you have.

(Jim 03 Mach 1)
That car is definitely an 03 Mach 1. It has the right wheels, hood, hood scoop, grill delete, chin spoiler, and most of all, look at the c-pillars. The v6, GT, and Cobra, all had very rounded c-pillars where they came down and met the fender. The Mach 1 and Bullitt both have a very sharp cut-back toward the front of the car, instead of the gentle round-off.

(stealth)
its funny how the first guy says were not idiots... then the second guy proves him wrong by saying only 5.0s are in gt's... get a clue!! 5.0's haven't been in mustangs for 14 years!!! lol

(Kevin)
That IS a Mach1. They run low 13s to mid 13s in the 1/4. They are rated 290-300 at the crank. His stats are dead on.

(David)
lsc240horse- mustangs have been making the 4.6 engine for a while guy, you should get up to speed on your cars before you talk ****, they just now in 2011 built another 5.0 and its a REAL 5.0. thats all....

FIRST OUTING IN VEHICLE, DID ALRIGHT, BUT NEVER COULD GET IT TO REALLY HOOK. NEED ANOTHER OUTING TO DIAL IN SUSPENSION/TIRES. FOR THE PEOPLE WHO LEFT NEGATIVE COMMENTS, THIS CAR HAS A DOHC ENGINE NOT A SOHC!!!! THERES THE POWER DIFFERENCE, IT WOULD HELP IF YOU ALL COULD READ
