Saw you run the other night, and talked to you during the day. . .you have a quick car! have a couple of cellphone pictures if you want. looks like you were lifting at the end of the 1/4 to keep from getting kicked off the track.

(alan)
Thanks Andrew. I talked to a ton of people so i'm not sure which one you were. Make sure and give me a shout next time you're there. I had to seriously hit the brakes on those last few runs. I ran a 12.0@80 if that tells you something. They told me, \

Very impressive run Alan

(mk028)
hi alan, i was wondering if you could give me your opinion on something. Every time I have gone to the track and watched stock 06/07 Z06's run 1/4 miles they all have been in the 11.3 to 12.0 range depending on the driver and whether they have street or drag radials on. I may have even seen a few 11.1's or 11.2's . There is a guy on this site that claims to run 10.8 with a completely stock Z06 with drag radials. I live in Az and go to firebird and asked the track manager there and he says that in his entire life he has never seen a stock Z06 go into the 10's. Considering you own one bad ass Z06, do you think honestly that a completley stock Z06 with radials can run a 10.8?

(mk028)
I just saw your 0-100 time, sick!! Thats just scary fast for a car that has ac, radio, navagation, ect.

(ambell)
Well, just to give you an idea, you could see Alan's brake lights right before the quarter (so he didn't get kicked off the track). That said. . .maybe on slicks, with one hell of a driver (and weight reduction).

mk028, If you go to Corvette Forum and do a search in the drag race section for Ranger, you will find a post on his 10.8 run. Also the documentation on how he got to the 10.8 run. He is legit!

(mk028)
thanks doug, I appreciate the info.

(ambell)
He ran again this weekend, but I don't know his times. . .

Here is the link to Ranger's run!! Enjoy...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=469NvIOiz7U

To answer mk028s earlier question. Yes it's very possible to run 10s in these stock. Teh thing that holds them back is traction(you have to launch below 3K on street tires), clutch(very weak, you can't slip it) and torque managemnet(pulls power out of any launch above about 3K). So if you had a strong clutch with great traction and no torque management you could run 10s in every car.

(mk028)
That was my point, if you put in a different clutch, and adjust the computers torque management, and put anything other then the factory tires on it, it is not stock. Thats why I do not think a factory stock z06 can run 10's. I have check both AZ tracks and neither track manager as ever seen it, I have checked all the tests done by road and track, motor trend, ect, and they have never been faster then 11.5 (which was once) the rest were between 11.7 and 12.2. I spend a lot of time at the tracks and have spoken to numerous z06 owners and for the reasons listed above by Alan, they all have said that theres no way a stock z06 can run 10's.
