Great times. I'm about to buy an M3 with the SMG transmission. What launch technique did you use to achieve the results posted in DragTimes?

What is the writing on top of the airbox? Is it a ZCP thing, cause my friends regular 05 doesn't have that (or the strut bar)
(carl)
wow, that is the fastest time i have seen from a stock e46 m3!!!
whatis that writing?
(Pete)
To answer your questions. The writing on the airbox is just the standard info on what type of oil needs to be used inside the engine - I thought all E46 M3s had this.
As far as the strut bar goes, BMW started installing the strut bar on E46 M3s since the 2003 Model. BMan, your friend's '05 should have the strut bar, unless it was removed by someone (probably dealer and they never put it back on).

Hi, do u know if SMG are faster than 6speed. I got 2001 6 speed and would love to hit 13.0 on 1/4 mile. How did you do it
(Pete)
Damir - generally the SMG will be faster than 6MT because the SMG shift speed is so much faster. A 6MT would have an advantage in the hands of a professional drag racer who can launch the car at a higher RPM than SMG (SMG is limited to 1,800 RPM in the US, and 3,500 RPM elsewhere) and also rip through the gears down the track without lifting off the clutch. I was able to get such good times because I got lucky - I got a factory freak and the engine is what helped me :)

This car is an M3 ZCP - Competition package. Only came in that colour, crossbrace, crossdrilled rotors, some CSL parts etc etc
